Horse Racing Tips: 3 worth seeing at Sedgefield on Sunday

Nice way to end a January week if the three of these come in

Nap

Zamani – 13:00 Sedgefield

Zamani (9/4) was just a fair performer on the Flat but did manage to win a couple of times when trained in Germany, and he has made an encouraging start over hurdles for new connections.

He shaped well on his debut in this sphere when finishing third at Ludlow in November and duly improved on that when opening his account at the second attempt at Fontwell last month.

He was helped on that occasion by the short-priced favourite falling, but he looked to have that rivals measure anyhow, and the handicapper may have underestimated him with an opening mark of 119.

Next best

Manofthemoment – 13:30 Sedgefield

Manofthemoment (7/4) has improved with each start over fences, and gained due reward when getting off the mark under this rider at Warwick last month. He was weak in the market on that occasion, but that didn’t stop him showing improved form, coming clear of the remainder with another novice.

That form has a solid look to it, and the manner in which Manofthemoment travelled suggests he should have even more in the locker. A subsequent 8 lb rise in the weights is acceptable and Manofthemoment is expected to follow up.

Each way

Ulterior Motives – 15:00 Sedgefield

Winning Irish pointer Ulterior Motives (6/1) has showed only modest form over hurdles in three starts, but she has shown ability and is expected to progress further now sent handicapping. Martin Todhunter has his string in good order at present, and Ulterior Motives was seemingly ridden with one eye to the future at this course last time, patiently ridden and not at all knocked about in the closing stages.

An opening mark of 102 is no gift based on what she has achieved on the track, but she should fare much better now and is worth chancing.
