Horse racing tips: Frank Hickey reveals horse which ‘stands out a mile’ at Sandown today

It wouldn't surprise me if he was a dark horse for the Champion Hurdle too.

So to Sandown, where there’s one horse on Saturday which stands out a mile for me. Fortunately, I’m here on the From Horse’s Mouth podcast to tell you what that is.

Anyway, that horse is Eldorado Allen in the Handicap Hurdle in the last race. Let’s start by acknowledging how Gunnery is going to be favourite here for Nicky Henderson. It absolutely bolted in on its handicap debut off a mark of 116 last week – it was rated 90 on the flat with a six-point penalty thrown in.

But back to Eldorado Allen. He made his Handicap debut off a mark of 145, he has been off a year but if you go back to his win last year at Sandown for Colin Tizzard on his hurdles debut, he won very easily from Severano who was rated 134, Finawn Bawn who was rated 133, Star of Lanka fourth who was rated 135, Oakley was fifth rated 137 and even West To The Bridge was beaten by 18 lengths and he was rated 123.

Off 145, if he’s fit, he’ll take a bit of beating. I wouldn’t be a surprise if Eldorado Allen is a dark horse for the Champion Hurdle too.

There’s plenty more going on this weekend and I have a really nice fancy at Newcastle that I’ll tell you all about later. Stay tuned on PP News for that. In the meantime, time to take a peak at the Tolworth at 14.25. I’ve had a look and I can see why Fiddlerontheroof is favourite because he’s obviously won at Sandown on last time out.

But I just think Son of Camas was quite impressive on the last day at Newbury on his Hurdles debut in what looked a very strong hurdle race. King Roland came second and was very impressive a few days ago at Exeter. At the prices that are out there for this, I would want to be on Son of Camas, to be honest.
