Ruby Walsh: My best bets at Leopardstown on a sensational Saturday

Bacardys to topple Apple's Jade?

Leopardstown 14:00 – 3m Grade 1 Chase

This is wide open. Honeysuckle is not going to run and that throws it open to those who were second and third to Honeysuckle in the Hattons Grace Hurdle. Bacardys will uphold this season’s form in my view over Apple’s Jade who has won the last two runnings of this contest.

He beat her in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan, he was second and she was third behind Honeysuckle at Fairyhouse.

Bacardys’ progression will trump Apple’s Jade.

Kemboy-Xmas-18

Leopardstown 15.10 3m 3m Grade One Savills Chase

Bellshill, Kemboy, Delta Work, Road to Respect – this should be a cracker.

I’m not sure about last year’s RSA form. Santini scraped home in Sandown, Delta Work was well beaten in Down Royal, so I’m going to overlook him on that form.

Road to Respect was very unlucky when he clipped heels last year turning out of the back straight and lost a lot of ground. He was very good at Down Royal where he beat Clan Des Obeaux who sure franked that form when winning the King George VI Chase.

Bellshill won the Irish Gold Cup last season beating Road to Repect, while Kemboy took the bull by the horn last season to triumph here.

I think Willie Mullins may win it and on the ground I’d just favour Bellshill over Kemboy.
