Racing Traders Tips: 5 Boxing Day picks that pack a punch

Call it whatever you want, it's a great day for racing

Black Op (9/4) ran a cracker the last day at Newbury behind Champ and a repeat of that would make him very hard beat in this. Slate House might be expected to challenge but was far from impressive at Huntingdon.

The Champion Hurdle picture is very murky at the moment and an impressive winner here could shoot right to the top of the market. Fusil Raffles has done everything right so far and would look a good bet at 15/8.

Cyrname was the unanimous pick here on the back of his impressive win the last day when downing the mighty Altior. Although quite impressive in the race last year, we felt Clan Des Obeaux wouldn’t be worth following, even at 6/1.

As Jerry Hannon would say, “Strap yourselves in”, this has the makings of one of the races of the week with Laurina and Fakir D’oudairies going at it over 2m. We marginally came down on the side of Laurina but this is a race to sit back and enjoy.

If you have a strong opinion on the race I would suggest backing them for the Arkle before they jump as they will likely shorten considerably if winning this.

14:40 Limerick

Another cracking Novice Chase, this time over 2m4f, with two of the most popular horses in National Hunt racing, Samcro and Faugheen, taking each other on.

Samcro looked to be back to his best in the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse before slipping up on the back of the second last. If he is the horse they thought he was, he should be winning here at odds-on.
