Augustus Caesar showed improved form (backed up by a good timefigure) to make all the running on his handicap debut at Lingfield in September. He never looking in any danger of defeat after kicking clear on the home turn, keeping going well to beat a next-time-out winner by a neck. That form sets the clear standard on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings here – even with his 7lb penalty taken into account – and it will be disappointing if he can’t mount a bold follow-up bid.

Tiger Tap Tap showed a useful level of ability in three starts over hurdles last season, producing his best effort when fourth in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival in February. Admittedly, Willie Mullins’ charge was well below that form on his reappearance at Naas last month, but he is entitled to get fitter with that outing under his belt and will find few better opportunities than this to open his account, a maiden hurdle in which he sets the standard on form by some margin.

Luna Magic was below form on her final two appearances of the turf season, but she had been a model of consistency prior to that, finishing either first or second in each of her seven previous starts for this yard. She has been given a break since disappointing at Nottingham at the beginning of last month and could be worth another chance on her first all-weather start since winning here in July, representing the Archie Watson yard that continues in top form.
