Horse racing tips: Ruby Walsh’s 8 picks for Saturday in the UK and Ireland

Cheltenham, Doncaster and Fairyhouse under his watchful eye.

Cheltenham 12.45

It’s a novice chase and Mister Fisher for Nicky Henderson, who had a good day on Friday, could be the one.

Cheltenham 1.55

Secret Investor is the favourite by all accounts since the unfortunate withdrawal of Riders Onthe Storm. Willie Mullins runs Robin Des Foret, who had a good run on his last start against Burrows Saint, but it’s his first time up this year and he may find it tough. The one I like each-way is Clondaw Castle.

Cheltenham 2.30

Valtor will be on many people’s lists but I think Champagne Well could be too good for him in this one.

Cheltenham 3.05

If there’s a Champion Hurdle horse in here, it’s Pentland Hills. He should have too much class for Chtibello. Elixir De Nutz is a Tolworth Hurdle winner and could be a fair horse – he could be the other one here. But Pentland Hills is a Grade 1 juvenile and will be too good for the rest.

Doncaster 2.10

A small field, with just three runners. Windsor Avenue seems to be everyone’s tip but I’m a Sam Spinner fan and I’m going to stick with him.

Doncaster 2.45

It could be a good day for Nicky Henderson and Tombee Du Ciel could collect here.

Fairyhouse 1.40

Monkfish, who is very short-priced, should be able to make up for a pretty expensive loss the last day.

Fairyhouse 3.25

The final race at Fairyhouse is a mare’s bumper and I think Some Might Say has improved enough from her first outing in Naas to collect here and give Willie Mullins a double.
