Agent of Fortune had dropped in the weights after enduring a winless campaign with Christine Dunnett, but she did well to justify market confidence on her first start for Gary Moore at Lingfield on Monday. She overcame a positional bias at Lingfield, making rapid headway widest of all and sustaining her effort after to score by half a length. The manner of the victory suggested that she is as good as ever and she should take all the beating here under a 5lb penalty.
17:55 Chelmsford City – Que Quieres
Que Quieres took a big step forward on the level he had shown in novice company when finishing third on his handicap debut at this track in October. Simon Dow’s three-year-old improved further on his next start when finishing third, leaving the impression that he had a bit more to offer under the right circumstances. He continued his upward trajectory when finally getting off the mark over course and distance last month, confirming his previous promise to win by three-quarters of a length. He looks sure to give another good account of himself here in what looks to be another weak race.
18:40 Kempton – Western Duke
Western Duke finished last in a considerably more competitive contest than this at York in August, but he shaped as if back in form when fifth at Kempton last month. That was the five-year-old’s first attempt at two miles and he shaped with encouragement, looking like he would have benefited from a stronger gallop as he kept on at the one pace without being able to land a blow. He looks handily weighted, is unexposed over this trip and has a decent chance. The lightly-raced Smart Champion is a strong stayer and was a good second on his latest start at Newmarket in September. He could still be open to improvement and is considered a leading danger.
