Roman Spinner is on a long losing run but she usually goes well around this time of year and has been shaping better than the bare results might suggest in recent races. She travelled smoothly at Kempton two starts ago but was short of room a furlong from home, and she looked unfortunate not to emerge victorious at the same track on her latest appearance when denied a run at a crucial time. She runs off the same rating as last time and looks very interesting off a mark 8lb lower than one she defied last year.

Jukebox Jive has run over hurdles on two previous occasions, winning comfortably at Fontwell in November 2017 before struggling at Sandown the following month, and he could be on a good mark on his first attempt in this sphere for almost two years. He was relatively consistent on the Flat for Jamie Osborne this year and ran in some good-quality races at Ascot and Newbury. He turned in his best effort of the season when making a winning start for Gavin Cromwell at Naas earlier this month, and he is expected to be bang there on his handicap hurdle debut.

Captain Dion finished only sixth at Chelmsford last time, but he did too much too soon and is worth treating as if still in top form. He had previously won at Catterick, which was his third win in five starts, and he is still fairly treated based on the form he showed that day. He might be able to dominate from stall four and looks set to launch a bold bid. Something Lucky shaped well on his first start since leaving Mick Appleby when finishing runner-up at Chelmsford this month, and he is a danger.
