Loving Glance gave the impression that a shorter trip would suit when failing to get home over nine and a half furlongs here recently, so the drop back to seven furlongs should be in her favour.
She hasn’t progressed as expected but the form of her two runner-up efforts at Newmarket in the summer set a clear standard, and she is up against rivals who also have a question to answer. Alvaro has had only two starts and wasn’t seen to best effect at Lingfield so could have more to offer.
He could give our selection the most to think about.
17:50 Wolverhampton – Rocket Action
Rocket Action struck at Newcastle as a two-year-old and resumed winning ways when he returned to Tapeta at Wolverhampton in August.
He then added another creditable effort on the all-weather to his CV when narrowly missing out on the Polytrack at Chelmsford the following month, beaten only by a smart sort. Rocket Action took his form to another level at Wolverhampton on his latest outing, making up ground in impressive style to record his second victory over this course and distance.
He has gone up 8lb for that victory, but it looks a strong piece of form (the runner-up has won since) and Robert Cowell’s low-mileage three-year-old appears to be the one to beat.
15:50 Wolverhampton – Get Boosting
Get Boosting ran his best race yet when getting off the mark at this track last month, finishing well to overhaul a rival who had been better placed.
The pair did well to pull clear in a race run at a modest tempo and the burst Get Boosting produced to win identified him as an improving two-year-old – and one to keep on the right side. The form of that contest is proving strong (runner-up won next time) and Get Boosting shaped as if he was still in good form when finishing third next time, running on well but from too far back to get involved.
He is able to race off the same mark and is worth a serious look.
