Horse racing tips: A 5/1 double at Sedgefield from our traders

They're looking closely at a Richard Newland-trained duo.

Doctor Richard Newland doesn’t send too many all the way up to Sedgefield from his Worcestershire base, but he has a healthy 34% strike rate when he does, with 10 wins from just 29 runners.

He has a couple of good opportunities to further enhance that record tomorrow.

The good doctor looks to have found an eminently winnable race for his new inmate Emma Lamb in the opening maiden hurdle, on her first start since joining from Jedd O’Keeffe.

She has only achieved a rating of 106 in her 6 hurdles races to date, but little more may be needed here, and Newland is so adept at improving these types she rates as a confident choice to make it lucky number seven.

Rose Sea Has looked disappointing on his seasonal reappearance at first glance, but he was too free and maybe needed the run more than expected.

The drop down to 2 miles is sure to suit, and the application of a first time hood should also help curb his free-going tendencies.

He shaped well enough in a couple of novice hurdles last season to suggest his current mark isn’t beyond him.
