The Big Bite and Who Dares Wins are very interesting now making their chasing debuts, but experience can count for plenty in these events, and Thomas Darby is sure to improve from his first spin in this sphere at Wincanton last time.
A smart novice hurdler last season, he shaped with plenty of promise, no shame at all in losing out to a useful sort, conceding experience, race sharpness and track position to that rival around a speed-favouring course. That experience won’t be lost on him and he should prove hard to beat.

3:25pm Chelmsford – Far Rockaway @ 5/1
This looks a deep race of its type but it was hard not to be drawn to Far Rockaway on her recent debut over seven furlongs here earlier this month. She made plenty of appeal on paper – out of a half-sister to the high-class mile winner Darjina – and she really caught the eye in the closing stages. She was highly strung beforehand, but there was nothing wrong with her demeanour in the race, held up early and keeping on well under a hands-and-heels ride.
Far Rockaway will have derived plenty from that experience and is open to significant improvement over this three furlong longer trip.

Sarsaparilla Kit proved better than ever to open her account in a maiden over this trip at Lingfield last time, the switch back to an all-weather surface perhaps the catalyst. She doesn’t look badly treated now back in a handicap on that evidence, having hit the frame in a handicap here from a 3 lb higher mark in May. Stuart Williams continues in good form and it will be disappointing if Sarsaparilla Kit isn’t in the places here from a good draw.
