Horse Racing tips: The 5 best bets on Wednesday from our traders

Chepstow, Warwick and Kempton under the microscope.

Warwick Racecourse

13:05 Warwick – Rosemary Russet

Rosemary Russet has been running in some good races of late, most notably when 4th behind Demon Fou at Wincanton in what I thought was a hot race for the grade.

She got dropped a pound for that run and now goes chasing off a very fair mark of 109, having been rated as high as 116 over hurdles at one point.

She also has the benefit of having had a recent run over most of her opponents, with all bar Miss Mash having their seasonal reappearance. She looks worth a bet to take this.

14:10 Warwick – Lisp

Lisp may not end as the best of these long term though I think there are plenty of reasons to back him here on chase debut. He is another who will have the benefit of having had a run, whereas one of his main rivals, Mister Fisher, is having his first run this season.

Lisp was 4th in a very competitive handicap hurdle at Ascot on his reappearance, and for me that form isn’t far off what will be required to win this. He jumped hurdles well and I think there is a big chance he’ll improve for the switch to fences, so I’m keen to side with him here.

15:10 Warwick – Wild West Wind

Wild West Wind doesn’t have the prettiest form figures of late though he has been given a break and wind op, and there is a good chance he could return to form in this race for veterans.

He’s dropped back down to a mark of 135, having been rated 144 in his prime, while his trainer has done really well this season with horses off a break. He looks like one to take a chance on.

15:50 Chepstow – Granitic

This looks a really weak race and Granitic was one I thought could be value. He was last seen when finishing 8th of 16 behind Demon Fou in the earlier mentioned Wincanton race (Rosemary Russet was 4th), though he shaped like he could come on massively for the run, being his first run after a wind op.

He got dropped 3 pounds for that run and Kevin Jones claims off another useful 3 pounds, which could put him in with a big chance in this weaker race.

18:10 Kempton – Khuzaam

Khuzaam was very impressive last time when winning at Kempton over today’s course and distance, and he looks very likely to take this step up in grade in his stride. That win last time came in very fast time, which suggests he’s at least up to listed class level, and could potentially be a group horse, particularly on his AW form. He’s drawn fine in 8 and should get a decent position, I’ll be very disappointed if he’s beaten.
