Jason Weaver: My 5 Friday night fancies at Dundalk

It wouldn't be a Friday night without the Weaver Shark.

Jason Weaver Flat Racing

Dundalk 17:45 Arcanears @ 4/1

He ran really well here previously off a mark of 84 behind a regular and solid performer in Geological over 6f. He finds himself now on a mark 19lbs below where he originally started. He’s not had too many spins at tonight’s 5f trip so is open to a little bit of improvement and is well drawn now switching back to Fundalk for Mick Halford’s winning machine stable at this venue.

Dundalk 18:45 Golden Valour @ 8/1

Not been with this team for too long, but was picked up by a very shrewd operator, Colm Sharkey, at the horses in training sales for £35,000. Has shown next-to-nothing in the UK for Godolphin or for his new connections on the turf, but ran much better when switched back to the all-weather surface.

His wide-draw is definitely a handicap tonight, but that is factored into the price.

Dundalk 19:15 Come Back and Stay @ 12/1

She finished third to her stablemate last time and was clearly hanging left-handed the whole length of the straight at Fundalk, but was still persevered with under a right-hand drive from the pilot. That won’t be a problem tonight as a more experienced rider takes over.

She is operating down at the bargain basement level with a rating of just 45. However, with limited runs on the track and only her third try at the trip, she possesses a little bit of wriggle room from the handicapper.

Dundalk 20:15 Gold Factory @ 11/4

Joseph O’Brien’s runner has been outpaced and put on her nose in the early stages of her three qualifying runs over six and seven furlongs twice. Stepping up to this 1m trip is going to be a bonus and the handicapper is taking no chances in allotting her a mark of 73, as he must feel she is full of untapped potential.

She should find the rhythm of this examination much more to her liking and can topple the more experienced, Enchanted One, in the race for the winners circle.

Dundalk 20:45 Sabrina Fairchild @ 11/2

Sarah Lynam is building herself an enviable profile under the lights at Fundalk and finds herself on what could be a lenient mark, especially with our tidy claimer Danny Sheehy taking off another 5lbs.

The draw has not been kind, but a quality jockey can overcome that from his pitch in stall 12.
