Ruby Walsh: Monkfish & Bapaume look our best chances at Fairyhouse on Tuesday

Ruby's hoping Team Mullins can double up in Co Meath.

Fairyhouse 11.55am

A very early start at Fairyhouse with the five-runner 2m 4f hurdle at 11.55am. Willie Mullins runs two in Easy Game and Mister Blue Sky with Paul Townend opting to ride the latter. I’m not sure he’s gotten it right though as Easy Game looks a bit of value to me.

However, the unbeaten and odds-on Honeysuckle sets a high standard for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore and will be very heard to beat.

Fairyhouse 12.25pm

Kid Curry runs in this 2m maiden hurdle, but he’ll have to improve on his run last month when fourth to A Wave of the Sea at Punchestown last month, where one of today’s rivals Cerberus was second, having looked likely to win.

Cerberus was the overnight favourite for this contest, but all the money since has been for Noel Meade’s useful Flat performer Red Gerry.

Fairyhouse 12.55pm

In the 2m 4f Maiden Hurdle, Willie Mullins runs Dionysis and Monkfish. Dionysis is a nice horse who might improve a bit for his first run of the season but Monkfish was unlucky when second in a bumper at Punchestown behind Longhouse Poet (second on debut to Elixir D’ainay in a maiden hurdle at Naas on Saturday) last season.

Monkfish could be hard to beat.

Fairyhouse 2.25pm

Willie Mullins saddles Bapaume and Castlebawn West in the 2m 5f Beginners Chase where Gigginstown House Stud have four runners.

Bapaume was a high-class hurdle horse and has schooled brilliantly over fences at home.

If the rest of the day has been a disaster hopefully Bapaume can get us out of trouble.
