Fairyhouse was abandoned on Monday so it’s all down to one horse at Kempton …
2:40pm Kempton – Morning Vicar @ 3/1
Morning Vicar was disappointing on his final run last season but before that, he had looked a decent prospect in bumpers and novice hurdles. An opening mark of 126 looks very fair and could be difficult to beat here at a course where his trainer has a fantastic record.
Fairyhouse Abandoned
12:35 Fairyhouse – Debuchet @ 5/2
Debuchet, a smart sort in bumpers, narrowly denied in the champion bumper at Cheltenham in 2017, was a most disappointing and expensive horse to follow over hurdles, being a beaten favourite on a number of occasions. Having said that, I am willing to give him a chance here on his first run over fences. This is not a particularly deep race and there is a chance that fences could be the making of him tomorrow.
2:20pm Fairyhouse – Monkfish @ 10/11
This is a very interesting maiden hurdle. Thatsy sets a very good standard having only been narrowly denied by one who subsequently ran well in a Grade 2 but Monkfish, who was sold for 235k after his point win, ran a really promising race on stable debut in a Punchestown bumper back in May.
The form of that race looks strong and he is taken to make a winning hurdle debut before going on to take much higher rank in novice hurdles as the season progresses.
