Timeform: Our hand-picked trio from across Wednesday’s cards

The Timeform brains-trust pick their nap, nota bene and each-way shouts.

NAP – 17:25 Wolverhampton

Edge is well treated on the all-weather – he runs off a 6lb lower mark than the one he defied last year – and produced a performance at Chelmsford last month that suggests he could be about to take advantage of his lenient rating. He finished only fourth but the performance was more encouraging than the result would suggest.

In a race dominated by prominent racers Edge fared best of those held up, keeping on nicely in the straight and suggesting this step up in trip could be to his benefit.

NB – 16:20 Fontwell

This is not a strong handicap chase and Love The Leader, who is the only fit and in-form horse, looks to have an outstanding chance. He was perhaps fortunate to win at Wincanton on Thursday as he benefited from the runner-up receiving an over-confident ride.

However, he jumped soundly under Luca Morgan, stuck to his task well and does not have to carry a penalty for that success, so should account for some unreliable rivals.

EACH-WAY – 14:20 Worcester

Pink Eyed Pedro is rated lower over hurdles than fences and can take advantage of the big difference between those marks. He ran poorly on his latest outing over hurdles here in September, but he has since posted a solid effort over fences at Ludlow, where he rallied after making a bad mistake at the second-last to finish a creditable runner-up.

That effort shows he is in decent heart at the moment and these fixed brush hurdles should suit him well.
