14.20 Pontefract – Genever Dragon
Genever Dragon has been gelded and given a break prior to his nursery debut on Monday and trainer Tom Dascombe has also reached for a first time pair of cheek-pieces. He had no chance on his first start when well beaten behind current 2,000 Guineas favourite Pinatubo on debut at Wolverhampton, but was well-backed next time up when suffering a troubled passage at Haydock when seventh off 11 runners.
He proved he goes on the forecast soft ground though on his qualifying run at Doncaster last time, when just over a five length third to Wyclif over this 7f trip.

17.20 Pontefract – Hawaam
You have to forgive a deplorable run last Saturday when last of 14 to Count D’orsay, but aside from that Hawaam ticks a few boxes in the concluding 5f handicap.
He was out of his depth and out of the handicap in that Class 2 contest and did himself no favours by slightly missing the break. Normally a front runner, he has the plum draw in stall one here and has form figures of 1-2 when Daniel Tudhope rides.
The forecast heavy conditions should also not pose any problems.
