Traders’ tips: Our six to watch at Newmarket, Chepstow and York today

Our traders are keeping a watchful eye on these guys!

It’s a massive day of racing today, with competitive cards at Newmarket and York, while Chepstow really signals the beginning of the jumps season.

At Newmarket, Pinatubo is the star of the card, but he is something to watch and enjoy rather than punt on. However, there are plenty of decent opportunities elsewhere.

In the 14:20 at Newmarket, we are pretty keen on the chances of Mythical as our opening tip on a stellar Saturday, especially with Ryan Moore on board the Aidan O’Brien charge.

In the 14:55, we like the look of Military March who was impressive on debut at Newmarket in a race that is working out well and the time compared well to a decent fillies handicap later on that card. We are 9/2 and there is plenty of 7/1 about which would look very appealing.

The big race of the day is the Cesarewitch at 16:10, with Paddy Power offering an attractive seven places in this one. Two we are keeping an eye on are Great White Shark – which would look the more appealing of Willie Mullins’ two and Party Playboy for Tony Mullins. Both of those make plenty of each-way appeal.

Our own personal fancy is Mr Everest for the shrewd Tony Martin. He looks really well treated and has all the hallmarks of a horse that has been targeting this race for a while now.

To those itching to get involved in the jumps action at Chepstow, Remastered has plenty of appeal in the 16:30. A decent bumper horse, he absolutely relishes testing ground and the rain on Friday will really enhance his claims. His trainer, David Pipe, had a winner there yesterday too. His handicap mark of 133 would look very fair and he looks a solid each-way play.

Over at York the ground is already soft, so it seems sensible to focus on mudlovers in the Coral Sprint Trophy Handicap at 15:50 – in which we pay six places. Air Raid looks of interest back on his favoured surface, but at a bigger price Hyperfocus is worth chancing as he too likes to get his toe in.

In the 2m handicap at 17:00 a bit of a leap of faith is required, but Aircraft Carrier could bounce back dropping in grade. He has blinkers back on, which he has won in before, has won on soft ground and is down to an attractive looking mark into a class 3 handicap. He was tailed off when last seen so will need a typically power-packed ride from Silvestre De Sousa but is worth chancing.

Tips Summary:

Newmarket 14:20: Mythical – 9/4
Newmarket 14:55: Military March – 5/1
