Jason Weaver: Here’s four fancies on a fun Friday at Doncaster

Friday racing on the tellybox. Lovely.

Jason Weaver Ascot

Doncaster 14:10 Mot Juste @ 12/1

Admittedly her last run was a little disappointing at Goodwood, but she was ridden very handy and is arguably better if held up a little. Her previous run behind Billesdon Brook over this trip was a massive eye-catcher and a reproduction of that run would put her right in the mix in this company.

She looks a knocking each-way bet at the prices.

Doncaster 14:40 Sleeping Lion @ 5/1

He’s going to give the red-hot favourite Saroog plenty to think about. Their recent form ties in together with a horse called Themaxwecan and at the revised weights and measures, I can make a case for him coming out on top getting 10lb from the Jolly. Jamie Spencer will be playing his cards late as usual.

Doncaster 15:10 Dee Ex Bee @ 11/4

I thought that if had he gone quicker up front in the in the 2m 4f Ascot Gold Cup that was his opportunity to get the better of the mighty Stradivarius. Over the shorter 2m trip at Goodwood and York, he just didn’t have the same change of gear.

However, he now has the opportunity to make this a real grind over 2m 2f in the Doncaster Cup and drag that potent turn the foot out of Stradivarius. William Buick is back on and he has a 50 per cent strike rate on the selection.

Doncaster 15:45 Alligator Alley @ 15/8

The Irish challenger should be coming in here looking for the four-timer after being unlucky in the Molecombe Stakes at Goodwood behind Liberty Beach. He he has really found his niche since being dropped down to the minimum distance of 5f and looks to be thriving on his racing.

With Golden Dragon and Flaming Princess likely to set a strong gallop, he looks as if the race will be run to suit.
