Emerald Rocket has been most consistent since going hurdling, finishing 2nd or 3rd in all 5 hurdle starts this summer.
While it often pays to be wary of taking short prices about ones who find it hard to win, this looks more a case of bumping into smart sorts.
There looks to be only one realistic challenger in here and any of his last 3 or 4 hurdle runs should be good enough to take this with Richard Johnson now doing the steering.
17:55 Yarmouth
Knowing caught the eye more than once as a 2 year old and even had an Epsom Derby entry at one time last year.
While those were clearly very lofty expectations he seems to always go well-backed and finally got the job done at this course on handicap debut.
A 3lb rise for that success seems very fair and he should take a bit of stopping here.
18:35 Newton Abbot
Empreinte Reconce is a lightly raced sort who came from France with a fairly lofty reputation – so much so that he was sent off odds-on for a Newbury bumper on stable debut back in December 2017.
She won her maiden hurdle a this track last summer but looked a seriously improved performer after a wind op last time, again over this course and distance.
A 7lb rise in a much deeper race requires more but it was hard not to be visually impressed with how she travelled and quickened last time and she should prove difficult to beat here.
