Matt Chapman: Zhui looks a play at 25/1 for Goodwood on Friday

The former Royal Hunt Cup winner looks a player in the Golden Mile (3pm).

Comments

IT’S all about speed on Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood 2019 with the sprinters taking centre-stage amid four races live on ITV.

With that in mind, let’s get quickly to it, and the 1.50pm is the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes over 7f. JUBILOSO looks a good thing here. The daughter of Shamardal looked special on her first two starts and was far from disgraced when third in the Coronation Stakes for Sir Michael Stoute. Should score.

Next up at 2.25pm is a Group 3 over 1m. TURGENEV will be very hard to keep out the framer for John Gosden and is worth backing each-way. He wasn’t at his best last time but can bounce back from that defeat.

We are in handicap company at 3.00pm again over 1m. ZHUI FENG runs this track well and is down to a decent handicap mark for Amanda Perrett. The 2017 Royal Hunt Cup winner has shown glimmers of form in recent times and this might just be set up for him from a good draw. Back him each-way as well as Paddy’s paying 5 places and he’s a lovely double-digit price.

And finally the big King George sprint at 3.35pm over 5f. BATTAASH is the best sprinter in the world in my book when he is at his best. With Blue Point now retired. This should be easy pickings for the Charlie Hills-trained runner who is long odds on.
