Matt Chapman: Hermosa can bounce back to her best in the Sussex Stakes

Matt's all over the dual 1,000 Guineas winner Hermosa on day three at Goodwood.

It’s Day 3 of Goodwood on Thursday and after a wet start things have picked up. ITV show four races once again, with the Nassau Stakes the highlight to round off the coverage.

We open with the 1.50pm a handicap over 1m 2f. SINJAARI was disappointing when I selected him at Royal Ascot, but I will give him another go from a good draw. I have a feeling the drop back in trip will suit. Should hit the places at least in an opening looking contest.

Next up is the 2.25pm, the Group 2 Richmond over 6f. Not a great bunch here, and I will risk FLEETING PRINCE who is a double-digit price for Charlie Hills and James Doyle. I was at Windsor when he hacked up last time and he looked useful. He might improve as well. Back him-each-way.

We are in Group 3 company at 15.00, with the 1m 4f Gordon Stakes. SPANISH MISSION is a progressive stayer and looked decent for Dave Simcock when landing the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket. He stays strong and will be hard to keep out the frame.

And finally, the Group 1 Nassau feature is at 15.35 over 1m 2f. I’m all over HERMOSA here, who for me was not at her best when second at Royal Ascot. Prior to that she had won the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas.

She can get back to winning ways for Aidan O’Brien.

You hear me Paddy?
