Jason Weaver: I’m on a Mission with this 7/2 shot on Thursday

He's on a sharp upward curve says the Weaver Shark on his Thursday fancy in the 3pm at Goodwood.

Goodwood 13:50 – Almania @ 9/1

Always been highly rated and the fact that his shrewd trainer Sir Michael Stoute decided to throw him into the Dante behind Telecaster speaks volumes. He has put up two good runs subsequently over further and now dropped down to what could be his ideal distance of 1m 2f. He’s definitely not at his ceiling rating yet and is a healthy price.

Goodwood 14:25 – Threat @ 9/4

I wouldn’t say he was unlucky in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, however he was racing in the middle of the track on his own having made up a huge amount of ground. Was thought to be the best of Richard Hannon’s two-year-olds he looks a solid favourite.

He got a little worked up before Royal Ascot so best to keep a close eye on him in the prelims.

Goodwood 15:00 – Spanish Mission @ 7/2

He bolted up by four lengths when last seen on Newmarket’s July course, when last seen in the Bahrain Trophy. That was over slightly further and there was talk about running in the the St Leger later in the season. However, connections have re-routed over the slightly shorter 1m 4f for the moment.

He carries a 3lb penalty but is on a sharp upward curve.

Goodwood 15:35 – Mehdaayih @ 3/1

She has only had the one ‘blip’ so far this season and that came in the Epsom Oaks. A look at the replay shows she was arguably a little unlucky as she was short of room and never really got going again.  A cosy success in France last time will have boosted her confidence and she’s going to serve it up to the red-hot favourite, Hermosa.

It could be an expensive afternoon for Paddy if those at the top of the market run well on Thursday.
