Galway Races: Our traders’ picks for Monday’s action in the west of Ireland

What a day it's going to be

Galway 17:55

Bumper winner Dumhach Thra looks fairly treated in what is his first handicap start.

He won a bumper in Tramore last year and since then has slightly disappointed in his three hurdle runs but two of them were not without promise.

He comes into this having had a spin on the flat at the Curragh last week so that should put him spot on to run a good race here.

Galway 19:40

Mr Adjudicator catches the eye down towards the bottom of the weights after recently having a spin around Bellewstown, finishing behind stable mate and rival again today Royal Illusion on that occasion.

Prior to that he won a Grade 2 hurdle in France and with this being only his second start on the flat for trainer Willie Mullins he looks sure to have a few pound in hand off his current mark of 81 so should take all the beating.

Galway 20:40

Emmett Mullins and Derek O’Connor took this bumper 12 months ago with Zero Ten. He was making his first start in over a year that day and the same connections are represented here with Russian Diamond, who hasn’t been seen since finishing a tired 6th on debut in a bumper at Leopardstown over Christmas.

But he was well supported in the market that day and showed enough to suggest he has a race of this nature within him. The well-bred Risk Factor is sure to be a warm order but Russian Diamond should be able to give him something to think about.
