Matt Chapman: The 11/2 will do for Moraawed at York on Saturday

Seven races. Three tracks. One Matt Chapman. Boom!

Matt Chapman Cheltenham

We are on the eve of Royal Ascot 2019, but there are still winners to be had this Saturday on ITV4 before this blog can go Royal Ascot crazy from next Tuesday to Saturday. ITV have races from three meetings Saturday, namely York, Sandown and Chester.

Let’s get straight to it, and the 1.50pm at York is a handicap for lady riders over 1m 4f. MAKAWEE is up 10lb from his last win, but he’s in such good form he might be able to defy the handicapper for David O’Meara. Stays strong. Next at York is the 2.25pm, a handicap over 7f.

GREAT PROSPECTOR is back on a good mark and has every chance. He ran a fine race over 7f at Haydock last time and can build on that effort. Was once rated 106 but now on 94. The 3.00pm at York is a Listed race over 1m 6f. MEKONG is consistent and still improving for Sir Michael Stoute.

He stays very well and with Ryan Moore on board will be very hard to stop.

And finally at York the 3.35pm is a handicap over 6f. MORAAWED is promising to win a decent pot and this might be it. He kept on nicely over 6f when unlucky at Newmarket last time and will be very hard to keep out of the frame for Roger Varian in a race where Paddy’s paying the first 6 home.

Meanwhile, over at Sandown ITV show the 2.05pm, a Listed event over 5f. A very tricky race, but I’ll take a chance on WELL DONE FOX who has bits of form on ground with some juice in it. Has to be seen though if he has trained on for Richard Hannon.

The 3.15pm at Sandown is a handicap over 1m. HISTORY WRITER ran poorly last time at Epsom, but prior to that he had been in good form at both Sandown and Newbury. He goes with cut in the ground and might bounce back for trainer David Menuisier who is in good form.

As for Chester, well ITV beam the 2.40pm, a handicap over an extended 1m 4f. LARIAT looks exposed after a trio of seconds, but he has a good piece of form on the track on soft ground and was unlucky that day. Every chance of finally getting the win.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
