Jason Weaver: This 33/1 shot could Lord it over Newbury field

Jason loves an each-way punt, and they don't get much puntier than a 33/1 effort.

Jason Weaver Flat Racing

Newbury – 1:50 The Cruising Lord

This race is full of big connections with horses who are on the improve the selection is from an unfashionable stable but certainly know the time of day. He tried to make all at Ascot last time against one of the best sprinters we have seen, yet finished upsides some decent types. He’s going to be around 33/1 and I’m not expecting him to collect the gold medal but he can get a slice of the pie as an each-way shot.

Newmarket – 2:05 Al Hilalee

Was a decent two-year-old winning both starts, the second of them at the Listed level. He was thrown in the deep end in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and got very agitated and upset beforehand. Brett Doyle takes the ride and surely he has had plenty to do with him at home and that calming influence can be the deciding factor drop back down into Listed company. He could easily be the class act at 7/2.

Newbury – 2:25 Crystal Ocean

Was a top-class performer last year and started this season in ripping form with a fantastic return victory at Sandown. He’s going to be short but he is the cornerstone for all of your doubles, trebles and accumulators.

Newmarket – 2:40 Jash

Has a fantastic two-year-old career, winning twice and then only beaten by Ten Sovereigns in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes. That is by far and away the best form on show and he was expected to turn up in the 2000 Guineas earlier on, however, the team have given him a little more time to come to himself and this looks an ideal starting point. He can book his ticket to Royal Ascot in this around 8/11.

TEN SOVEREIGNS with D O’Brien wins from right JASH 2nd in Juddmonte Middle park Stakes at Newmarket 29-9-18.

Newbury – 3:00 Sinjaari

Moved across to this stable throughout the winter and has put up two creditable performances finishing second at Redcar and winning readily at Windsor. The form has already been boosted with the horse who beat him winning a handicap of 83. This is a very tough handicap indeed, full of improvers, however he may have been underestimated off 89.

Newbury – 3:40 Lord Glitters

Has been a superstar for connections over a few seasons and put up as good a performance as he has for awhile when chasing home the superstar Almond Eye over in Dubai. there looks like being a solid pace and that can soften up the favourite Laurens. This selection will be held up and played late expecting to be picking up when the front runners are tiring.
