Ruby Walsh: We’ve high hopes of a double at Killarney today

He may have quit the saddle but he's still got his finger on the pulse.

Elimay, Killarney 2.40pm

Elimay looks to be in a match with Pearl of the West. She won a better race than Pearl of the West in my opinion and will love the drier ground. We worried at Punchestown that she mightn’t handle the soft ground but she did. The drier the gallop got at Willie Mullins’, the better her homework got so we’ve no issues with Sunday’s quicker ground.

She’ll be tough to beat.

La Sorelita, Killarney 3,15pm

We’re claiming 7lbs off her so she gets to race off 9st 3lbs. She ran on the Tuesday at Punchestown when the track was at its widest and stiffest. The tighter track at Killarney, where she’ll jump more hurdles, will suit her better. She was behind Pearl of the West (who runs in the 2.40pm here) at Punchestown and must surely go very close off this featherweight on Sunday.

Thomas Hobson, 3.45pm Hoppegarten

Thomas Hobson’s last run behind Stradivarius in the Group 2 Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Champions Day should be good enough to win this staying race at Hoppegarten in Germany. Oisin Murphy is booked, his last bit of work was really good, and if he can go close here, the plan could be a crack at the Ascot Gold Cup.
