Matt Chapman: An easy lead for Addeybb looks just the job at Sandown

Matt's got that Friday feeling with four tellybox races on ITV4...

Matt Chapman Cheltenham

We wave goodbye to the jumps season on Saturday with the climax to the jumps’ season from Sandown, but there’s a real treat on Friday with four races on ITV4 from the Esher track.

Let’s get straight to it, and the 1.50pm is the hugely competitive Esher Cup over 1m. FOX LEICESTER looked a monster at Chelmsford on the seasonal debut having shown encouraging form as a juvenile. He likes to race on the front end, and while stall nine is a little bit wide, but he stays well and has every chance for Andrew Balding and Silverstre de Sousa on his handicap debut.

The 2.25pm is the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes over 1m 2f, and CRYSTAL OCEAN should be far too good for the Sir Michael Stoute & Ryan Moore combo. He’s rated 125 so has 10lb in hand of next highest rated in Thundering Blue and should hack up. Even though he’s odds on – they look big to me.

It’s the Group 3 Classic Trial over nearly 1m2f at 3.00pm, and on paper BANGKOK has no chance off a BHA rating of 88. Technically, he would be thrown in for a handicap if connections think he can win here, and he was hugely impressive for Balding and de Sousa at Doncaster first time. Stays well.

The ITV4 coverage ends with the Group 2 Mile at 3.35pm and I like the look of ADDEYBB from the inside box. It gives James Doyle a great chance of an easy lead and with the cheekpieces on for the first time, he might bounce back to his best for trainer William Haggas.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
