Jason Weaver: There’s a fab Friday in store if these four score

The ITV bandwagon rolls into Sandown as the Weaver Shark and the Flat season rev up a gear...

Jason Weaver Flat Racing

13:50 Reggae Runner @ 11/2

Did really well to finish second in Musselburgh last weekend considering he chased a very strong gallop. He was only picked up late on by the winner Coolagh Forest, who was held up off a strongly-run pace. That performance can be upgraded and he  may well get an uncontested lead in this line-up.

Doesn’t take much picking as he was a tidy winner of this contest last year and went on to prove himself up at the highest level. A few of these will be closing in at the line late on and probably the horse for the forecast is Extra Elusive who ran a blinder at Kempton last time.

There was a lot to like about his Doncaster return, where he won in taking fashion. The second that day, Telecaster, has come out and bolted up at Windsor and the fourth Dubai Instinct was successful at Nottingham. He needs to improve on official ratings to beat Persian Moon who makes his seasonal debut, but there is every reason to expect he can step up.

Interesting that they start him back off in the race he won last year, after winning the Lincoln impressively. It was always thought he was only effective under soft conditions, but with another year on his back to strengthen up, he represents massive value in this line-up. The red-hot favourite Sharja Bridge won easily at Doncaster, but was not put under any pressure.

One or two of these will surely eyeball him in the later stages of this race.
