Newcastle 6:30 Jan Van Hoof
Michael Herrington’s runner has only been nudged up 2lbs for a nose victory here over course and distance having been produced on the jam stick to win. They eight-year-old will need much of the same again on Friday night but he’s still fairly treated and is going to be an exciting watch. Expect his to arrive fast and very late.
Dundalk 7:15 Sevenleft
Sheila Lavery’s runner was at one time closing in on being a triple-digit rated runner and has slid down the slope all the way to a mark of 79. There’s no doubting he’s thrown in at the weights and he was ridden very aggressively on his latest start. Those tactics may pay off on Friday night – dropped back to the long sprint of 7f.
Newcastle 7:30 Solar Park
James Tate’s runner didn’t need to be at his best at Wolverhampton on his latest start and it was an open goal that he didn’t miss. He drops into handicap company for the first time and looks to have been given a reasonable mark.
It’s a strange sprint as he looks the lone speed horse. Our jockey Callum Rodriguez keeps it simple – just point and shoot.

Ryan Moore looks to have picked the right one of Ballydoyle’s threesome with this progressive three-year-old. He finished behind his stablemate Magna Grecia at the highest level in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity at Doncaster last Autumn and also behind another Irish big gun in Madhmoon at Leopardstown before that. He’ll get 5lbs from stablemate Van Beethoven who carries the penalty for his Group 2 Railway Stakes win last season.
Newcastle 8:00 Displaying Amber
Ben Haslam’s runner has already shown solid form over this 5f trip and was put away after running a shocker when last seen in September. The yard couldn’t be in better order at the minute and a lowly mark of 49 is not her handicap limit.
She is positioned up the favoured stands side strip in box eight and that will help.
Dundalk 8:15 With a Start
Bumped into a tarter in Chess Grand Master two starts back over course and distance and didn’t appreciate the drop in trip last time either. The two horses at the top of the market McGuigan and Drakensberg have gone up 6lbs and 14lbs respectively.
He looks well positioned to gain his first win for his new connections.
