Matt Chapman: It’s a bold Claim’ – but he’ll be too good for his Sunday rivals

There's no chance of a quiet Sunday in front of the tellybox with Matt about and he's all over Claimantakinforgan in the Cheltenham opener at 13.50 on ITV4 ...

IT’S the final day Sunday of Cheltenham’s three-day November fixture and the ITV cameras are back for more and throwing in a race from Fontwell for good measure.

Let’s get straight into it, and the 1.50pm is a Grade 2 novices’ chase over nearly 2m. I’m confident the Scottish Champion Hurdle runner-up CLAIMANTAKINFORGAN will be too good for this lot after a facile success over fences at Uttoxeter. Defi du Seuil has a lot to prove now and Nicky Henderson’s runner will be hard to stop.

Next is the 2.25pm, a Grade 2 chase over nearly 2m. The fascinating runner here is BRAIN POWER. He’s had operations since last season and has always been held in high regard by connections. Indeed, he works as well as Altior at the Henderson stable. Now he has to do it on the track.

It’s the big Greatwood handicap hurdle over an extended 2m at 3.00pm. This won’t be easy for WESTERN RYDER off a mark of 145 for Warren Greatrex. But he was quite a useful novice who stays well and has every chance of reaching the frame at fair odds – if his jumping holds up. He has made the odd mistake before.

And finally at Cheltenham a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle over an extended 2m at 3.30pm. All over SEDDON here, who looked useful when scoring at Stratford last time and in a bumper at Musselburgh. Clearly fit and in good form for Tom George. Promising.

So pray for Yeeehaaas and good luck. You hear me Paddy?
