Jason Weaver: There’s no limits for Nimitz on a Fundalk Friday

The night's are darker, the days are colder but the Weaver Shark's tips are still red hot ...

Jason Weaver

6:15 Wolverhampton Majdool

Turned back up over course and distance where he absolutely bolted in last time by a comfortable looking four & a half lengths. Carrying a 6lbs will not be enough to slow him down if he turns up in anywhere near that form, The only slight negative is that he’s drawn out wide in stall 10. However, that may be factored into the price in our favour!

6:45 Wolverhampton Lucymai

Dean Ivory’s runner has managed to grace the winner’s enclosure on seven occasions and all but one of them have been over this long sprint distance of 7f. She’s been climbing through the ratings to a triple-digit figure and in a smallish field with no guarantee pace, she could quite easily make the running. However, being flexible about  tactics should work in our favour also.

7:00 Dundalk: Equitant

Wasn’t a cheap purchase at the sales out of Richard Fahey’s stable (80,000 guineas) she has already shown a fair level of ability and also handled the all-weather very well, coming in here at Fundalk on Friday, off what was a career-best performance. She is a fascinating contender from the Joseph O’Brien outfit.

8:00 Dundalk: Nimitz

Four wins from 25 starts overall but that strike rate improved to three victories from just 13 tries, when I looked closely at his all-weather races to date. Charles O’Brien’s runner is flexible as regards trip, but quite clearly stays this far and further. We can expect him to be ridden fairly handily from what is a perfect stall position.

8:45 Wolverhampton Ideological

Roger Varian’s filly is building herself a very decent profile, having one two of her three races to date. That defeat came at the hands of one of her opponents again here,  Troilus. It may well have been a lack of experience on that occasion, but I think jockey Jack Mitchell may feel that race slipped out of his grasp. He will be itching to make amends tonight in the lucky last.

9:00 Dundalk Wavepoint

The trainer Gavin Cromwell has never been afraid to travel his runners and this one was successful over at Wolverhampton five runs back. Making only his second try on the all-weather at home, he looks to have found a very winnable opportunity. Given his overall profile you would have to expect that he is nowhere near his ceiling rating at present.
