Ruby Walsh: My thoughts on Sunday’s card at Navan

Competitive fields all over at Navan....

A massive field her in the opening maiden hurdle here. There’s a horse down the bottom for Jessica Harrington that Robbie rides, Hyperdrive. I rode him in Galway. She jumps well but stamina might just be an issue for him but on quick ground around Navan with the experience on board, he might not be far away.

Absolutely nothing jumps out, I think this is very competitive this one. I’d hate to be trying to pick the winner of this. Staying well away.

15.10

A huge field again. I don’t remember this card in Navan from the past but there’s huge fields and you’re going to get pretty quick ground in Navan so there are a lot of summer horses running. But look if you were going for them, I’d be taking on the horse that have been running rather than going for horses who are coming off the back of the summer.

15.40

Major Destination, Veneer of Charm and Madison to Monroe are the obvious three here. I think Veneer of Charm is the one for me for the simple reason that I just think he’s a horse than will be improving a little bit.

16.15

Dis Donc or Babbling Stream here. Babbling Stream is former point to point winner, he’s a good jumper, loves the ground and I think he might just be a cut above the rest.

16.45

Sam King runs down the bottom here and that will suit him with a light weight on his back. The track should suit him as well and he’s a great jumper so the fences will be ideal for him and I hope he’ll run a good race here.

17.15

Buck’s Billionaire is our only runner on the card. He’s definitely been a tad disappointing so far but Navan might suit him, he’s a huge striding horse. He went really well yesterday morning, hopefully he’s improved a bit to go and collect but he has to improve from what he’s shown so far but we think he will.
