Ruby Walsh: My four to back at Sligo and Leopardstown on Thursday

Racing’s top jockey heads to Sligo for a run out today. He’s given us his tips for that card and thrown in a bonus pick from Leopardstown too…

Sligo

19:15 – Diageo Day 21st August Maiden Hurdle

I ride Stay Humble in this one who is a point-to-point winner. He looked like he wanted a trip in his bumpers and this race cropped up. I reckon he’ll have to improve on his bumper form a little, he’s been disappointing in those. However, he starts off over hurdles and we’d be hoping he’ll end up doing bigger things. He seems to be in good order and hopefully he can do the job. Only time will tell.

19:45 – Student Day 27th September Maiden Hurdle

Epswell had three runs in France. He’s a maiden and didn’t manage to win there, but he’s schooled well and should get the two and a half miles. He goes nicely and if he brings his homework to the track he should be capable of winning this contest.

20.50 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race

Kerry Star wears a hood in the bumper. She’s a forward-going filly and she works reasonably well at home. She’s completely different to My Sister Sarah as a horse, who is a laid back, relaxed filly while Kerry Star is much sharper. However, she does go nicely and hopefully she can collect in Sligo.

Leopardstown

20:35 Manguard Plus Handicap

Small Bit Of Love won on her last outing at Ballinrobe, where she improved on her first run at Dundalk. She’s obviously got a penalty for that win, but we reckon she’s stepped up again – it’s a competitive race though. She’s a handy filly, there’s not much of her meaning she doesn’t get worked overly hard at home. However, she seems to be in right good form.
