Mick Fitz: This 9/1 shot for Tony Martin is the pick of the bunch at Downpatrick

Gordon Elliott will be hoping to clock a few winners after a tough last few months....

Downpatrick has jumps action on Sunday and one man who will be keen to put the last few months behind him is Gordon Elliot. His horses have been laid low with a viral infection but the signs are the stable is about to hit the sort of form we have been used to in the last few seasons. Touch Base has run a couple of good races recently and Mark Walsh will be hoping he can get the meeting off to a flier.

I bumped into my old mate Tony Martin at Leopardstown and he was really upbeat about his horses and for that reason I am keen to stay on side with Our Rachael who ran a belter at Down Royal finishing fourth. She doesn’t need to improve much to figure here. She has some good flat form to her name and she gets the nod here. Comehere Hi is a good each way here too at

Lots of people will think that Turbo got away at the track in a bumper last time but I thought there was a lot to like about the performance. This horse was very unlucky in a point to point when unseating his rider after the last when winning at Tallow. Easy Gold will have a lot of supporters with the connections after a promising run at Killarney but I am sticking to my guns with the Turbo!

You Can’t Catch Me may be a bit of a Clonmel specialist but his form around this track is a win and a second place in two runs. This is on of those tracks where course form counts for a lot and I really think this lad will go very well.

Count Simon was a good second at Tramore to a good thing of Andy Macs called Torcello, no disgrace finishing behind him. There is no Torcello in here today so I think he’ll do it. Try Again could be good value as an each way.

Getaway Rose has been a model of consistency in her last three starts and it would be fitting if she were to win here for Danny Mullins and his Mum Mags. Realta Dawn is the one who catches the eye and this daughter of Craigsteel is very backable now in a handicap with shrewd connections so I’m siding with her.

17.30

The Caddy Rose was well supported for her debut and ran a blinder finishing second at Cork and bumped into a Willie Mullins potential star last time at Ballinrobe. She gets the nod here over Boragh Beat.
