Ruby Walsh: Veteran Ballycasey in form for Punchestown run

Ruby's given us his thoughts onthe Mullins two Punchestown runners this evening, where Paul Townend will be flying high after a bumper French weekend...

Paul Townend is back in Ireland after a super double in Auteuil at the weekend.

Tha’s a massive pay-day for a jump jockey this time of year. Baupaume was very good for Willie, he couldn’t have won much easier and he’s been improving all year. Baes des Iles was also brilliant for Ross O’Sullivan.

Paul’s back down to earth today as he saddles two runners for us at Punchestown.

Ballycasey is getting older but he’s dropped down in the weights for this conditions race. He’s run well around Punchestown before, he’s in good form, he’ll like the ground, and the galloping track with plenty to jump at Punchestown suits him, he’ll run a good race this evening.

It’d be great to see him stick his head in front here, he’s a wonderful horse, but he’s not getting any younger.

Itsonlyrocknroll disappointed the last time out as he didn’t seem to have enough to make it round the 3m trip in Tipperary. He ran a bit too keenly there so the drop back in trip today will suit him.

You’d have to look at Noel Meade’s runner Roseriver Has here though, who is rated at 123, and if he could run as well as that mark suggests he will take some beating.
