Ruby Walsh: My three to follow at Ballinrobe today

Racing’s top jockey tries to kick off your week in style with his top trio for a fascinating night of action at the Co Mayo racecourse…

17:30 – Tuam Herald Maiden Hurdle

Mary Sun runs for Willie Mullins in the Tuam Herald Maiden Hurdle today and to be honest, she’s been poor. Her last start at Punchestown was particularly bad. We thought a bit of dry ground might help her, but it didn’t. It won’t be hard for her to improve on what she has done in the past, however I wouldn’t be confident about her winning this one.

18:00 – Sheridan Electric Hurdle

Eoline Jolie has been steadily improving and her first run in Fairyhouse was very good. She was a small bit disappointing when she stepped up in class at Punchestown last month, but today looks ideal for her. She should like the ground and handle the track. She’s probably our best chance of the day.

18:30 – Monroe’s Live Mares Handicap Hurdle

Lareena ran an absolute blinder at Killarney earlier this month, she just made a mistake at the last in a very competitive race. She had 9-10 on her back that day, she’s only a small filly and she’s got 10-10 on her today. However, anything under 11 stone should be fine for her. She’s in really good order and hopefully she’ll atone for her near miss the last day.

20:30 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race

David Dunsdon owns Ifyoucatchmenow, so he rides her in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race. She has the experience to challenge in this one. Meanwhile, Robin De Carlow is improving nicely with all her work at home, but Ifyoucatchmenow is the one to beat for me.
