Ruby Walsh: Saglawy can stay the distance at Auteuil

Mullins has three entries in top form going in to Saturday's prestigious French hurdle. It could be bon jour to a hefty prize if Saglawy can last...

Prix Alain Du Breil – Four-Year-Old Hurdle

We plan to run Mr Adjudicator, Saglawy and Msassa in the big race on Saturday at Auteuil.

Looking at each of them, Msasa won in Sligo last week but he’s going back up in grade here.

On form, Mr Adjudicator would look the best of the three, but this race is 2m 3½f, so it’s a good long distance to be running over, and Saglawy, to me, shapes like the stayer in the race, so he could be interesting one.

You never know til you go there which of them will adapt best to the jumps and which of them is going to stay the trip of course.

It is a race that Footpad has won in the past, Bapaume came close last year too, so we’ve had plenty of success in the race.

I wouldn’t know much about the French horses coming into the race but out three are all in good order going in to this, so it’s just which one stays the best.

Pedigree-wise, that could be Saglawy, who should run better than his price of 10/1.

RUBY’S BEST BETS

Saglawy each way in the Four-Year-Old Hurdle at 10/1.

Mr Adjudicator, Djakadam & Killultagh Vic all to place in France this weekend.
