Tips from the Traders: Four to follow on Day 3 of Punchestown

Our racing experts look ahead to another massive day at the Co Kildare racecourse and give you fab four to back on Thursday…

Bacardys

There’s a really competitive card on Day 3 of the Punchestown Festival and again, we have some strong opinions!

The first of the Grade 1’s comes up at 17:30 with Penhill heading the market at 9/4 currently.

We feel that Bacardys would’ve finished close to Penhill at Cheltenham before falling at the last and with his good record at Punchestown, he’s our one to watch at 3/1.

Another who we’re slightly wary of is Faugheen, who looks to have been crying out for this trip after his run behind Supasundae at Leopardstown in February, he’s currently an 8/1 chance.

The only other Grade 1 on the card is the Ryanair Novice Chase and we feel this will be pretty straightforward for Footpad, who is a much fresher horse than his closest rival, Petit Mouchoir.

Asthuria may be one to be on without Footpad at a big enough price of 6/1.

As for the rest of the card, Apparition looks value at around 9/1 in the opening JLT Handicap Hurdle (15:40) based on his earlier hurdling efforts, as well as running a nice race at Dundalk a few weeks back.

Minella Awards looks to repeat his success in last year’s race in the 17:05 on the card and at around 11/1, he’s another that could be worth a few quid each-way.
