Cracking day of racing today and one man who definitely deserves a pint after earning his keep is Philip Enright. On board Surf Instructor in the 1.10pm Novice Chase in Limerick, he was hunting down the favourite, Balbir Du Mathan coming up to the final fence when he was catapulted into the air as he clambered over it.
Expecting a hard fall was probably on the minds of every spectator as they gasped with concern, but Enright managed to hang on and pull himself up just as he was overtaken by third placed Ballela Boy.
That would’ve been a fine achievement in itself but Enright wasn’t finished there. He quickly got back into stride and managed to pull off a dramatic finish as she shot through his two rivals to snatch victory.
One to show the grandkids Philip, hats off. Enjoy the pint.
