Watch: Jockey makes recovery for the ages to win at Wetherby

After nearly coming off at the second last Tony Kelly had it all to do…

There may be massive cards at Sandown and Aintree, but its Tony Kelly’s ride in the 1.20pm at Wetherby that will steal the racing headlines today.

Kelly was on board 9/2 shot Captain Mowbray, who had just pulled himself a couple of lengths clear as he faced up to the second last in the Jigsaw Sports Branding Chase.

Looking like he was cruising to victory, Captain Mowbray proceeded to smack the top the fence sending Tony Kelly sprawling, in a struggle to stay on him.

The jockey not only managed to get himself back on his ride, but miraculously jumped the last perfectly and romped on to triumph ahead of Big Meadow.

Jack Kennedy thought he’d pulled off the recovery of the year in Clonmel on Thursday, but he hasn’t even seen out the week without getting another challenger. Thanks to Racing UK you can check out Kelly’s moment of magic for yourself below:
