A double whammy of a Lucky 63 and an each-way acca led our man into the Punting Hall of Fame…

Tune up the trumpets and break out the champagne as Paddy Power’s Punting Hall of Fame has its newest member!

That’s because a customer in his early 70s from London is over £97,000 richer after landing two mega punts on yesterday’s racing.

Indeed, Glorious Goodwood lived up to its name for our new hall of famer as he miraculously managed to call the first SIX winners at the festival on Friday.

The first punt of our winner’s terrific twosome landed him a whopping £51,384 from a six-leg £3.50 each-way accumulator, which cost him £7.

Things got off to a flying start for the Londoner as favourites Poets Word and Beat The Bank romped home in the opening two races of the day. They were followed by victory for 6/1 gamble Master The World and when Battaash claimed the King George Stakes at 3.35pm our hero must have been getting excited.

Red Roman was next on the hit list and he didn’t disappoint as the 11/2 shot landed the 4.10pm. So, everything came down to Al Jazi in the Queens Plate Oak Tree Stakes.

Thankfully, Frankie Dettori’s mount picked her spot perfectly, driving through a gap in the middle of the field to send our punter into dreamland.

To make matters even better, he also had his super six backed in a £1 Lucky 63. That second wonderful wager netted him another huge windfall of £45,717.

He’ll also be grateful for Paddy Power’s guaranteed prices as just about £16,000 of his prize pot was down to being assured of a better price than the SP.

That brought his winnings to a mammoth £97,101, not bad for a Friday eh?
