Cheltenham Festival Winners: 8
Inglis Drever was responsible for three of the eight Festival successes for the Wylies – co-founder of the Sage Group. Interestingly, all eight victories have come in non-handicap races and they’ve been strongest in the novice events.
This year most of their best chances will come from the Willie Mullins stable with the lightly-raced Yorkhill and promising stayer Black Hercules – despite the latter’s last-fence fall at Navan recently. Other contenders like Bellshill, Shaneshill and Up For Review have taken a knock recently while Nichols Canyon is a leading player in the Champion Hurdle now Faugheen is absent.
Felix Yonger looks their top 2m chaser and could be an each-way play in the Champion Chase on better ground if swerving a trip to Japan while Battleford may look to emulate Briar Hill’s 25/1 win in the 2013 Champion Bumper under Ruby Walsh.
They are also the breeder of bumper candidate Augusta Kate while Ivan Grozny might be the most interesting of their handicap hurdlers after two recent runs after a lay-off.
