17:20 I’m Digby
Most of these have questions to answer and the one that stands out is I’M DIGBY, who justified support in emphatic style off a reduced mark over course and distance last Monday and a 5lbs rise for that win looks fair.
Violet’s Lads chased home an improver at this track last time and she’s feared most, though The Lords Walk showed signs of a revival at Bath and looks interesting on his drop back in trip. Another to keep an eye on is the lightly raced four-year-old Miss Sligo, who didn’t get any luck behind Violet’s Lads here last week.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
17:55 Reeceltic
Preference is for the relatively lightly raced six-year-old REECELTIC, who overhauled a well-handicapped rival when recording his breakthrough win over course and distance last month and is open to further progress off only 3lbs higher here.
Second choice is Stopnsearch, who was a smooth winner at Windsor last time and still looks feasibly treated on his return to Polytrack. The other one on the shortlist is Starfighter, who has form figures of 1221232 since February and should be in the thick of things again.
18:25 Joy Choi
The ones with soft-ground form are JOY CHOI (NAP) and Danzart. The selection clocked a decent time at Chepstow and she could be a sprinter on the upgrade.
18:55 Eve Lodge
The runner-up flopping next time casts a shadow over the form, but EVE LODGE still shaped with considerable promise at Ascot. Sophie’s Star could be the danger after coping well with the soft ground at Thirsk, while making a case for her brings Wee Loch Lass into the equation. Stable form naturally heightens interest in the newcomer Denim Shorts.
19:25 Hope Probe
Most of these have a lot to prove, but HOPE PROBE has been an improver in 7-furlongs handicaps this spring and he coped well with a switch to soft ground when a front-running second at Carlisle on Monday.
He’s a big player off the same mark and gets the vote ahead of Calonne, who had a near miss at Newcastle on his penultimate run and could make a bold bid on this drop back in trip/grade. Mr Beau Blue has not made an impact in his six runs, but he ended last term with a promising effort and needs checking in the market with a tongue-tie added on his return.
19:55 Dragon’s Fire
Ryknild Street could take a big step forward from her encouraging Wolverhampton debut, but the pair to make most appeal are El Picaro and DRAGON’S FIRE. The latter shaped well on slow ground at Nottingham on his return and should stay this longer trip.
20:25 Solomons Judgement
This looks a minefield with most of the leading form contenders having achieved their best results on quicker ground. Emjaytwentythree and There’s No Danger won’t mind underfoot conditions and are high on the shorlist, but SOLOMONS JUDGEMENT looks a likely improver now handicapping and gets the tentative vote.
