Goodwood, Haydock, York and the Irish 2,000 Guineas from the Curragh make up ITV’s coverage on Saturday.
The going at all four tracks will will be on the soft side so those with a preference for a good dig in the ground are preferred.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Goodwood 14:10 – Desert Encounter
Stormy Antarctic will be popular after a very good run at Windsor when runner-up to Second Stone. He found himself on the opposite side of the track to the winner and with trainer Ed Walker in very good form he will have every chance. He is proven on the ground and Richard Kingscote Is a very positive jockey booking. The one I like though is Desert Encounter who was narrowly beaten by Waldkonig when coming from a long way back at Sandown on decent ground, He is proven on soft ground and can get the job done for us in style.
Goodwood 14:50 – Aldaary
Jim Crowley holds the key to this race as the two runners that stand out are both owned by Shadwell Stud Estate, so he had the choice between Tawleed and the one he’s chosen, Aldaary.
Tawleed only has 8st 6lbs to carry and that may have swayed him in favour of the top weight but it would have been very hard for him to get off William Haggas’ runner. He looks like a Pattern race contender in the future and this could be a stepping stone to better things.
He is unbeaten in three runs and he looked a star in the making when winning so impressively at Ascot. Tawleed was impressive at Newmarket but it is very different ground now.

Curragh 15:20 – Van Gogh
Jesse Harrington will be hoping she can bag a classic with Lucky Vega who finished third in the English 2,000 Guineas couple of weeks ago. The ground is soft at the Curragh and that will be very different to the test that was set for these horses at Newmarket, when the ground was quick.
Lucky Vega revelled in the conditions then and ran a hell of a race. He is a deserved favourite on the back of that run. The 2,000 Guineas winner Poetic Flare ran poorly in the French 2,000 Guineas at the weekend, so his trainer Jim Bolger as well as Aidan O’Brien with Wembley and Van Gogh, will be hoping for better now. Van Gogh was very slow away at Newmarket.
I was down at the start and saw that he got badly squeezed out and then struggled to get into the race after that. He is a big, powerful colt and this track will suit him much better. He is an each-way price and has a very good chance now.
Haydock 15:35 – Dragon Symbol
Dragon Symbol has made giant strides this season winning at Hamilton over 5f and Kempton and Newcastle over 6f. This is a better race but on what we’ve seen of him so far, he certainly deserves the step up in grade.
The Lir Jet ran a lovely race in the Greenham Stakes over 7f. He was keen there and this will be much more his bag. He won the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last year over 5f and he certainly didn’t look slow at Newbury.
