13:20 Mystical Dawn

MYSTICAL DAWN showed improved form after 12 weeks off when second in a novice event at Nottingham last time, sticking to his task well to be beaten only 2-and-a-quarter lengths. He now makes the switch to handicaps and will command plenty of respect from an opening BHA mark of 86, with the prospect of even more to come now stepping up to mile-and-a-half.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:55 Ffion

FFION lost her unbeaten record when making her handicap debut over this course and distance two weeks ago, but she still ran well to emerge as the best of the rest behind Boardman – who advertised the strength of that form when following up under a penalty at York last week.

Still relatively unexposed, Ffion can race from the same mark here and looks sure to give another good account in conditions which clearly play to her strengths.

14:25 Green Book

GREEN BOOK was well backed and duly produced a career-best effort to get off the mark at Chester earlier this month. He was allowed his own way out in front and quickly asserted when kicking on over two furlongs out, ultimately winning by 4-and-three-quarter lengths with plenty in hand.

This will be tougher following a 10lbs hike in the weights, but it’s still early days with the Venetia Williams yard, so there is every chance he may yet have more to offer.

15:00 Headingley

HEADINGLEY probably should have won when second on his handicap debut at Goodwood last month, passing the post just 1 length behind the winner despite hanging badly left in the final furlong. He was possibly unsuited by that idiosyncratic track and is well worth another chance in a typically wide-open renewal of this valuable handicap. After all, he is still potentially well treated from only 3lbs higher than last time, especially when you factor in his scope for further progress.

15:35 Dragon Symbol

DRAGON SYMBOL looked a sprinter going places when maintaining his unbeaten record with a ready victory in a novice event at Hamilton three weeks ago. Neither the drop in trip nor switch to turf posed him any problems, looking at least a Listed class performer and probably even better judged on the drubbing he handed out to some useful rivals.

That form certainly sets the standard in this Group 2, so this looks a good opportunity for Dragon Symbol to extend his winning sequence to five on his way to bigger and better things.

16:10 Keep Busy

KEEP BUSY achieved a smart level of form during the second half of last season, producing her best effort when chasing home Glass Slippers in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh. That form reads well in the context of this race, while the fact she is proven on heavy going and has gone well fresh in the past gives cause for further optimism.

With the booking of champion jockey Oisin Murphy also catching the eye, Keep Busy is fancied to make a winning reappearance and can emulate her dam Look Busy, who won this Group 2 back in 2009.

16:45 Cloudy Dawn

CLOUDY DAWN made the most of a good opportunity to maintain her unbeaten record in a novice event at Lingfield two weeks ago, steadily drawing clear in the final furlong to land the spoils by 5-and-a-half lengths.

This will be her handicap debut for which she looks potentially well treated from an opening BHA mark of 80. She is certainly in the right hands to go on improving, representing the William Haggas yard which can boast an excellent 26% strike rate at Haydock in recent seasons.
