13:45 – Makanah

Julie Camacho’s runners normally improve for an outing and Makanah should be the same. However, he has proven an exception to the rule and always seems to run a good race when fresh. They have had quite a bit of rain in Chester which holds no fears as far as Makanah is concerned. Given we have a boatload of natural front runners, he should get the ideal run into this from just off the pace.

New to Paddy Power?

14:15 – Foxes Tales

Admittedly this is a jump up in grade for Foxes Tales but there was a lot to like about the way he won on his return to action at Newbury. The front two pulled fully eight lengths clear of the third and he was not under maximum pressure late on to score snuggly by a neck, suggesting that the step up in distance holds no fears. Ontario and Yibir are the two with proven Group race form, but they are there to be shot at and in Foxes Tales we have a young, improving runner on our side, who can throw his hat into the Epsom Derby ring.

14:45 – Aleas

Aleas was a little bit of a boy in his early racing career but he has been gelded over the winter. He still managed to get two victories on the board last season from only three races. It’s not ideal that he is positioned out wide in stall nine, however, he does have a little bit of natural pace and should be able to push forward over the extended seven-and-a-half-furlongs, which has a slight straight before they begin to turn. He has every possibility given his pedigree and a mark of just 86 underestimates his talent.

15:15 – Trueshan

Trueshan was undoubtedly on an upward trajectory last season, but nobody could’ve imagined the explosive demolition job he produced in the stayers’ contest on Champions day at Ascot. He was always hard on the bridle and produced an explosive change of gear to win by a massive margin. He does drop back down in trip for this assignment, to 1 mile 5 furlongs. Given the unsettled conditions, he looks guaranteed to get his favoured testing conditions to boot. He can be another winner for the champion jockey, title-chasing, Hollie Doyle.

15:45 – Baryshnikov

It’s very tricky to find a runner who has course form and handles the conditions, but Baryshnikov has both and has been handed a significant inside stall position in box three. There are one or two out wide like Just Hiss and Kryptos, who look to be on the right side of the handicapper and also have some form at the track, but they have been given the car park positions from stalls 11 and 14. Baryshnikov had a nice warm-up run at Doncaster when held up at the back of the field and wasn’t  knocked around, so that should leave him spot on for this.

Jason Weaver’s Thursday tips:

13:45 – Makanah
14:15 – Foxes Tales
14:45 – Aleas
15:15 – Trueshan
15:45 – Baryshnikov
