Blinkers are now tried on METAPHORICAL, who could be worth another chance of confirming the promise he showed over today’s C&D last October when third in a decent conditions event. Little separated Texas Moon and Flyin Hawaiian here last month over an extra furlong, the former is taken to confirm the form, while the most interesting of the newcomers is the Bolger runner Eaglefield.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
16:55 – Agrimony
A decent maiden in which AGRIMONY gets the vote. Weak in the market, he ran a little in snatches at the Curragh when second to a well-regarded type and is likely to be given a more positive ride here back in trip. Emporio has to bounce back from a disappointing C&D run last month, so greater threats could come from County Wicklow and Joseph O’Brien’s expensive newcomer Rekero.
17:30 – Flor De La Luna
The ground has turned in time for the likes of Princess Zoe and Barrington Court. However, a chance is taken on the latter’s stablemate FLOR DE LA LUNA, the least exposed of these and who shaped really well on her recent return to action, despite still looking plenty raw. The daughter of Sea The Moon won’t need to improve too much, on what is effectively only her third start, to score here in a strong renewal. Traisha can prove next best.
18:00 – Amma Grace
If the rain gets into the ground French Fusion will be right at home on it, and with improvement likely from her recent second in the Salsabil Stakes, she could be the main danger to AMMA GRACE (nap). Dermot Weld’s charge is also well suited by a good cut in the ground and she looks tough enough (Group 2 second), to be considered the most likely winner of this. Her rating of 108, gives her a small bit of wriggle room, which may well be needed on her first start for 193 days. Insinuendo is also interesting.

18:30 – Apres Toi
The debutant Woodland Garden, a sister to The Gurkha, without doubt catches the eye and is greatly feared, as is Ubuntu, a close third in a Group Three on heavy ground last season, but APRES TOI showed enough in fifth spot on her recent debut at Leopardstown to earn the vote here. An expensive purchase as a yearling (270,000gns), normal improvement from the run should see her difficult to contain here.
19:00 – Ellabella
Moderate fare and perhaps ELLABELLA can go one better than at Dundalk recently when staying on as if this longer trip would suit. She is more favourably drawn than Faraway Dreams, who looked progressive at Cork last month, sole previous winner in the field Cisco Disco does have a good draw but has yet to hit form this season.
19:30 – Macaban City
Coill Na Sionainne landed a nice touch when winning as she liked at Naas and she could well be still ahead of the handicapper. Kew Palace went into the notebook when second at Tipperary and seems to be on the verge of a breakthrough win, whilst Musalsal and Dromod Lad also look menacing. However, at a bigger price MACABAN CITY is given the nod. Our selection comes with some warnings, as he can often fluff the start, but if he gets it right, he looks more than capable off his present mark.
20:00 – Duquesa Beach
An open enough contest but a chance is taken on DUQUESA BEACH. A Dundalk winner late last year, she is beginning to look well treated and with a valuable 7lb claimed off her back, she can now bolster her hereto modest turf record. Dangers are plentiful with Pride Of Pimlico, Gregory’s Gift and Here’s Hoping likely to be amongst the main fancies.
