13:21 Wiley Post

WILEY POST failed to justify strong support at Brighton last time, but there is no doubt he is on a good mark judged on the pick of his form. In fact, he is now 9lbs lower in the weights than when recording his last win on the all-weather at Kempton in January 2020, so he could be worth another chance back at a venue where he has often gone well in the past.

13:56 Hot Scoop

HOT SCOOP wasn’t seen to best effect when fifth on his reappearance over this course and distance last week, doing well to finish as close as he did after meeting some trouble entering the final 2 furlongs.

He is entitled to strip fitter with that run under his belt and looks to hold sound claims from his much-reduced mark – he is now down to a BHA rating of 72 having started life in handicaps from a mark of 85 last summer.

14:31 Capote’s Dream

CAPOTE’S DREAM won his first two starts for Tom Ward (formerly trained in Ireland by Joseph Murphy) and again ran well when last seen over this course and distance three weeks ago. He was no match for the well-handicapped winner on that occasion, but stuck to his task well to fill the runner-up spot.

He can race from the same mark here and looks sure to give another good account for his in-form yard, with the booking of Tom Marquand also giving cause for plenty of optimism.

15:06 King Carney

KING CARNEY failed to win in five starts last season, but he is clearly a useful performer on his day, as he showed when third in a competitive handicap at Newbury last August. That form reads very well in the context of this race as he drops significantly in grade on his first start for six months.

With James Doyle taking over in the saddle, King Carney is fancied to make the most of the opportunity to gain his first success since landing at Listed race at Pontefract as a juvenile.

15:41 Sevenal

SEVENAL should take plenty of beating here if stripping fitter for his return at Doncaster. There is no denying that was a disappointing effort, but it’s far too soon to be writing him off given the promise he showed on his only two-year-old start – when chasing home Mutasaabeq in a minor event at Newmarket.

That form comfortably sets the standard in this line-up, while the small ‘p’ attached to his Timeform rating denotes that Sevenal is still open to more improvement.

16:16 Bringsty

BRINGSTY showed plenty of ability despite looking very green on his debut at Lingfield in February. He kept on well in the final furlong to be beaten less than 2 lengths behind a useful prospect who had the benefit of previous experience, with the first two pulling 5 lengths clear of the rest.

Bringsty is sure to progress with that outing under his belt and receives 7lbs here from the Wolverhampton winner Greatgadian, which could just tilt the balance in his favour.

16:51 Noble Masquerade

NOBLE MASQUERADE caught the eye after six months off when third at Nottingham last time, leaving the impression he would have given the winner plenty to think about had he enjoyed a clear run. That form is working out well as the winner Billhilly followed up on his next start.

There is no doubt Noble Masquerade is on a good mark, and he shapes as if likely to be suited by a mile-and-a-quarter. This looks a good opportunity for him to belatedly get off the mark.

17:21 King Viktor

KING VIKTOR took a big step forward to make a winning reappearance at Southwell last month, relishing the extra emphasis on stamina on his first try over a mile and a half.

He responded really well to pressure to lead inside the final furlong, finding plenty to land the spoils by three-quarters of a length. He remains with potential now back on turf and is fancied to defy a 4lbs higher mark to follow up, with the booking of Silvestre de Sousa also catching the eye.
