13:00 Love de Vega

LOVE DE VEGA posted a really encouraging effort when finishing runner-up on debut at Newmarket and he can get off the mark at the second attempt. Love de Vega isn’t a sharp type on pedigree, but he showed plenty of speed on debut, leading until headed a furlong out. That is just about the best form on offer, and he is entitled to improve so will take the beating.

13:35 Gunnerside

GUNNERSIDE is on a roll and can make it three wins from his last four starts. He made a successful reappearance at Newcastle three weeks ago and then wasn’t seen to best effect when runner-up at Kempton, doing too much too soon after being rushed up following a slow start.

He was again slowly away at Wolverhampton last time, but made smooth headway into contention and ended up running out a ready winner. A 7lbs higher mark should not be enough to stop him following up in this kind of form.

14:10 Commanche Falls

COMMANCHE FALLS enjoyed an excellent campaign in 2020, winning on three occasions – including from a 2lbs lower mark at Haydock on his penultimate start. He was a bit disappointing on his final outing of the campaign.

But, he is better judged on his previous efforts and it’s worth noting he won on his reappearance last season, so is capable of going well fresh. He remains relatively unexposed and could have more to offer.

14:40 Midnite Bride

MIDNITE BRIDE finished last season on the up, landing back-to-back handicaps at Catterick and Redcar. The form of her Redcar success has worked out well as the filly in second has won twice subsequently, and a 6lbs higher mark may not be enough to stop Midnite Bride on her reappearance. She returns to action with trainer Kevin Ryan among the winners.

Ayr Horse Racing

15:15 Water Iris

WATER IRIS was sent off a big price on debut at Newcastle, but she shaped with plenty of promise, catching the eye with how strongly she stayed on. She had to settle for second on her next outing at Chelmsford, where she was narrowly beaten by a rival who had been behind her on debut, but she remains open to improvement, particularly with this step up in trip by a furlong likely to suit.

15:45 Dream With Me

DREAM WITH ME was strong in the betting on his return at Wolverhampton last month and he showed improved form to gain a first success. He was only third at Pontefract last time, but he wasn’t seen to best effect having gone for home too soon.

He boasts a good pedigree – by Frankel and out of a daughter of 1000 Guineas winner Virginia Water – so could yet do better under more favourable circumstances and is well worth another chance.

16:20 Pearl Warrior

Only four go to post here and IAIN JARDINE looks to have found a nice opportunity for his Irish import Pearl Warrior. He ran up to his best when only narrowly beaten on his final start for Johnny Murtagh at Dundalk, and it’s worth noting he won on his reappearance last season. He can make a winning start for his new yard.
